Orosi Ring: A Miniature Embodiment of Glamorous Orosi Windows

Design Inspired by Traditional Iranian Architecture

This wearable art jewelry, designed by Salvi Samiei Kashi and Salomeh Sorouri, draws inspiration from the enchanting Orosi windows found in traditional Iranian architecture. The Orosi Ring captures the essence of the glamorous forms of Orosi windows, resembling a miniature embodiment in the user's hand.

The Orosi windows, known for their functionality and beauty, are a prominent feature in the Golestan Palace. These large windows extend from the ceiling to the floor, providing an enchanted feeling both on the exterior and interior. The Orosi Ring takes cues from the tinted glasses and geometric shapes of these windows, creating a design that exudes elegance and sophistication.

One of the unique properties of Orosi windows is their ability to provide illumination and balance sound. The Orosi Ring aims to capture these features, symbolizing the play of light and the harmonious atmosphere created by the windows.

The Orosi Ring is made using traditional silver jewelry-making techniques, which have been practiced in Iran for centuries. Crafted out of pure silver, the ring undergoes meticulous handcrafting processes such as cutting, shaping, and silver fusing. This traditional approach ensures that the ring not only showcases the artistry of Iranian jewelry-making but also pays homage to the cultural heritage of the region.

With a size of 56 and weighing 13 grams, the Orosi Ring boasts dimensions of 2.5 x 2.3 x 2 centimeters. Its intricate design and attention to detail make it a statement piece that reflects the rich history and artistry of Iranian architecture.

Salvi Samiei Kashi and Salomeh Sorouri, the designers behind the Orosi Ring, aimed to create a piece that represents the culture and art of Iran. By incorporating elements from the Golestan Palace windows, they have successfully captured the essence of this architectural masterpiece in a wearable form.

The Orosi Ring project began its research phase in 2017 and was finalized in 2019 after design and prototyping. Throughout the process, the designers faced the challenge of translating the unique colors and resulting illumination of Orosi windows into a glamorous ring design. The outcome is a stunning piece of jewelry that showcases the beauty and craftsmanship of Iranian artistry.

The Orosi Ring has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, technical skill, and resourcefulness, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its intricate design, cultural significance, and recognition in the design community, the Orosi Ring stands as a testament to the beauty and innovation that can be achieved when art, architecture, and jewelry intertwine.
